There are Dozens of New Laws in Virginia Today

If you're a Virginian, there are a list a new laws that you need to know as of today, July 1, 2019. 

Work Zones: If you are caught using your phone in a highway work zone, you will be fined $250. 

Human Trafficking: ABC stores will be posting a human trafficking hotline number in all stores.

Nicotine Products: If you are not in the military, you must be 21 years of age or older to purchase ANY kind of nicotine product. 

Rear-Facing Car Seats: If your child is 2 years old or younger, he/she must be in a rear-facing car seat unless weight and height requirements are met. 

Happy Hour: Bars can now legally promote their happy hour prices as long as they are not promoting the over-consumption of alcohol. 

Tommie's Law: Punishment for abusing a cat or dog is now a Class 6 Felony. A person could spend up to five years in jail for the crime and may face a fine of $2,500.
